Our story is one shared by many Italian families who left their homeland after the Second World War, carrying little more than hope, determination, and a belief that a better future was possible.

The Macari family's roots lie in the rugged mountains of Abruzzo, where generations learned the values of hard work, resilience, and respect for honest food. Those farming roots shaped not only who we were but how we approached life. When the war changed everything, we were forced to leave behind the land we loved in search of new opportunities.

Like so many Italian immigrants, we arrived in Scotland with very little. Survival depended on hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that each generation could build a better life for the next. The one thing we could bring with us was our knowledge of food and our passion for sharing it with others.

That passion found its home in artisan gelato.

Our Story

What began with a humble ice cream van grew, one customer at a time, into our first high street shop. Every cone served and every smile shared was another step on our family's journey. As the family grew, so did our ambitions, leading us to the north of Ireland, where we joined Italian relatives who had established successful businesses despite the challenges of the time.

Today, that same commitment continues through every generation of the Macari family. Our belief has never changed: use the finest ingredients, make everything with care, and never compromise on quality. Every batch of our artisan gelato is handcrafted on site each day in small quantities, just as it should be.

For us, gelato has never been just a dessert. It is a symbol of family, resilience, tradition, and togetherness. It brings people together to celebrate life's milestones, enjoy everyday moments, and create memories that last a lifetime.

The Macari name has been built on generations of hard work, craftsmanship, and an enduring passion for serving exceptional food. We are proud to continue that legacy today, sharing a little piece of our family's Italian heritage in every handcrafted scoop.
